Edwin L. Hightower, JD, MBA, is a Louisiana attorney who has been practicing law for more than 15 years.  He earned his undergraduate degree from the United StatesMilitaryAcademy, at West Point, New York, his law degree from TulaneLawSchool, and his MBA graduate degree from the Louisiana State University School of Business, and is licensed to practice law in Louisiana and Texas.  Ed regularly works with closely-held companies, business owners, entrepreneurs, employees, and their insurers in protecting their legal interests in court and contract negotiations.  He has also defended numerous professionals, including law enforcement officers, architects, engineers, real estate agents, appraisers, contractors and others, concerning claims of malpractice. 

 

Ed is married to a veterinarian, owns six dogs and in recent years has become active in the areas related to animal law issues.  He has taught CLE classes on the drafting and development of animal trusts pursuant to the requirements of state law.  Additionally, he has represented the interests of a California Trust involved in the litigation of the possession, ownership and compensation for services related to a line of champion-quality show dogs.  Further, he has provided pro bono legal assistance to certain veterinary students and professors at LSU School of Veterinary Medicine who confronted legal issues related to employment.  Ed is also an assistant editor of the AVMLA newsletter.
